This Day in Golf History: August 8
In the 108 playings of the PGA Championship, the PGA of America's showcase event began on this date, August 8, six times: 1933, 1974, 1985, 1991, 1996 and 2013. But it ended on this date just once: in 1982 when Raymond Floyd won by three at Southern Hills Country Club in Tulsa, Oklahoma, in the 64th playing. He won by three shots over Lanny Wadkins. It was Floyd’s second PGA victory.
